Personal Development

The Waseley Hills commitment to Personal Development

At Waseley Hills, we recognise the importance of developing our students in all aspects of school life which goes beyond the classroom, and so we put the personal development of our students at the heart of everything that we do. We are committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of experiences and enrichment activities throughout their journey with us and making real the CRST enrichment guarantee. It is paramount that the curriculum is sequenced in a way which develops student knowledge and engagement with their spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness as well as engaging with fundamental British Values, whilst embodying daily the values of the school and the trust.

Our students are offered an ambitious range of opportunities to enrich their personal development, which are not limited to, but include:

  • Our ‘Learning for Life’ curriculum.
  • ‘Waseley Hill  Futures’ Careers Education, Advice, Information and Guidance programme and careers fairs
  • Social Action Projects
  • Sustainable business projects in partnership with Morgan Stanley
  • University Away Day
  • Duke of Edinburgh award
  • Personal Development Day, featuring the Pioneer leadership company
  • Diana Award Anti-Bullying Training
  • Mental Health Student Leaders
  • Sports Leadership programme
  • Student Leadership structure including school council, prefects and subject ambassadors.
  • HPA focused activities and Events
  • Trips and visits at home and abroad

We promote a whole school approach to personal development within the curriculum. All of our departments plan learning sequences, supported by the Trust’s co-design strategy, to explore opportunities for spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness, understanding that this plays a pivotal role in developing students’ cultural capital.
